Where We Thrive

Where We Thrive’s mission is to rebuildrestorementor, and develop community resources to improve the lives of our citizens living in poverty, with emphasis on at-risk youth and the elderly.

We work to empower the youth of our community by facilitating direct mentorship programs, providing access to technology, and supporting career and higher education goals.

We strive to support community elders through meal and wellness programs, as well as assistance with minor home repairs and maintenance.

Our Story

Lockhart native Margaret Carter started Where We Thrive in 2019 with the goal of providing  services and support to underserved communities in Caldwell County.

Cultural Programming

Where We Thrive is deeply grateful to Humanities Texas and the National Endowment for the Humanities for their grant support that enabled us to thrive during the COVID-19 pandemic and to host the following cultural and well-being events in 2022:

– Black History Month library reading featuring UT-Austin professor Dr. Leonard Moore (February)
– Women’s Retreat: Empower, Enrich, Engage (March)
– Juneteenth Celebration and Men’s Health Fair (June)
